MultiCare Will Lay Off 350 Staff in Washington

MultiCare Health System will eliminate as many as 350 jobs in Pierce County, Wash., effective on Oct. 7, 2011. The layoffs constitute about 4% of its workforce of 9,400.

MultiCare said that the layoffs are due to “a very tough environment due to declining reimbursement for the services that we provide.”

MultiCare is a leading-edge, integrated health organization made up of four hospitals including Allenmore Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Tacoma General Hospital, numerous primary care and urgent care clinics, multi-specialty centers, Hospice and Home Health services, and many other services.
